Virginia Grace Rose

Virginia Grace Rose was born at 9:45 on December 9th, 2013.  She weighed 7 lbs 4 oz (3301 grams) and was 19.5 inches long.  As soon as she came out, everyone commented on her chubby cheeks and then they plopped a cute little red Christmas hat on her head.  The surgery went well and once Kim was put back together we were able to go and recover for a couple or hours all together.

"That's my mommy and this is my tongue and eyes"

Our admitting nurse was great.  Due to my punchiness from lack of sleep, I was cracking several jokes which kept both Kim and the nurse in happy spirits for a Monday morning. It was so much fun for our nurse that she was talking about it all the way until she handed us off to the next nurse.  We really made her day.

"Oh there is more space here than inside mommy's tummy, and its brighter"

"I am a Rose.  This is my grumpy face"

"Oh I love to stretch"

Once we were moved, Kim was able to nap most of the afternoon and I was able to snuggle with Virginia which she really enjoys.  She tends to completely stretch out her limbs while she rests on my chest.  She is very attached to her Daddy.  According to Kim, "She absolutely adores her daddy.  Every time Scott picks her up she calms down and smiles [and coos] at him."

She loves to snuggle

John and Nadia were able to bring the kids by in the evening to see mommy and meet their little sister. Once they said hi to mommy they immediately went to gaze at their sister.  They were soo excited and commented on how teeny and cute she was.  William was also "measuring" her with his hands exclaiming that she is "this long."  They were both able to hold her and showed off their big sibling armbands that the hospital provided.

William was so proud to hold his littlest sister.

Beth was beaming while we handed her Virginia.  It was amazing to see the instinctual womanly traits kick in so young in how she knew how exactly to hold her sister.

They were very proud of their big brother and big sister bands.

We are so glad she is here and can't wait to get to know this precious little girl more over the next little while.  She hardly cries but she does squawk and coo while trying to talk.  Her head is covered with a fine layer of dark peach fuzz.  She is a perfect little angel.and we love her so much and are excited for our adventures as a family of five.
