California Dreams

So recently we went on vacation to California to see Scott's brother John off on his mission to Durban, South Africa. From what we hear, he's been doing well and loving the MTC, although I think he's going to Durban from Johannesburg early tomorrow morning. We're excited to hear more from him. Anyway, the point is that after my last final we got in a car and went to LA. Here are some of the fun things that we did.

So, this is before we left. Look at that hair!!!

My baby likes to sleep in the weirdest ways. Like this, he has his feet propped up on the side of the crib.

Playing peek-a-boo!
This is also the first time he realized that this part comes off his table

I see you!

We're just getting ready for church!
(Notice that the top is no longer able to stay on)

Eating lots of veggies at a restaurant(Tucano's) we went to for Scott's birthday during finals.

And we're on the road for California. After sitting strapped into his car seat all day he was ready to sit in the sun in Mesquite.

Finally! We're at Grandma's house!

Sleeping on John's friend Megan when we were at the eye doctor. He's such a cute sleeper.

So, this is at Scott's surrogate grandma's house. William really loved the echo and pounding on the stairs.

This is John and Megan playing a duet at John's farewell party.

William loves the water and he figured out how to climb out of the pool from this step. Which is helping him learn how to climb upstairs. Although, he still tries to go downstairs headfirst.

Ok, I'm done swimming now.

It's time to sit around in a towel.

I'm helping Uncle John pack for South Africa!

Here's Sheri pinning on the tag once John was set apart. Since he was flying straight to South Africa the next morning the church office sent him his tags instead of waiting to give them to him in the MTC.

Here's Elder Rose!

This was taken very early in the morning at the airport. I don't think any of us slept much the night before.

Playing with Uncle John's tag one more time
(and giving hugs for the women of the group)

Bye-bye Uncle John.

The next day, we went to Disneyland!

Here's the submarine ride, which William got to go on. He really liked looking at the stuff underwater. Until it all got dark and then all he wanted was Mama.

Getting ready to go on the sub ride. Look at that hair!

He spent some of the day asleep in his stroller.

But he also enjoyed looking at his surroundings.

William especially enjoyed lunch. The adults had chowder in sourdough bread bowls. William had the top. He just munched on it for about an hour.

And then he got all tuckered out again.

William's first ride on a carousel. He wasn't too sure about it until it started moving.

Back at Grandma and Grandpa's house, William found some Gatorade while wearing his Kobe jersey, he didn't even know about the endorsement potential.

Why can't I get anything out?

Mommy, look what Daddy found!

This is our first attempt at the birthday cake. The frosting got too hot and wouldn't spread well. William wasn't too sure about his dinosaur.

He politely stuck his finger in to try it.

Hmmm...

In the end he just realized that he was all sticky.
Maybe it will be better on his actual birthday.

William had spaghetti for dinner, just like the rest of us. I think he liked it...

Enough to have it for lunch the next day and smear it all over himself.

Here's William playing Canasta with Grandma...

And listening to music with Grandpa.

He especially likes watching the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Hey, Mom, this is so cool.

Look what Daddy built!

Now I get to play "BABEZILLA" and knock it all down.

All in all it was a fun trip, we even picked up some herbs for Mommy.

And now we're finally home!

Now that the vacation is over, it's back to school for us and back to playing hard and learning lots for William. He's such a cutie! He's figuring out how to stand and getting so tall. Soon he'll be running and we won't be able to keep up with him. But for now, my son is blissfully asleep and it's back to homework for me.

My favorite is all the farewell pictures from John followed immediately by "We went to Disneyland". Hee Hee. Love William's "I'm a good-looking man and I know it" look.
